Pinnicle Dazzle DVC-80 as video & audio capture device

I have a Dazzle DVC-80 I want to use as a capture device for my DirecTV. Is there a way to do this? I have attached a filtercheck.log

Sorry, this device isnt compatible with GB-PVR. It lacks the required hardware MPEG2 encoder.

Pardon for my 'newbie' question but why is the MPEG2 encoder required? I have recorded TV input using Windows Movie Maker with this device.

GB-PVR is designed to work with cards like the Hauppauge PVR150 etc, which output MPEG2, rather than raw video frames that your device would output.
