Media portal is buggy as hell even the v1.00 release. GBPVR is much, much better of course... but there is one thing in media portal that works really well. To fast forward with a remote control in media portal is really easy. You can press the fast forward button multiple times and on the screen it displays +5 sec, +30 sec, +3 min, etc, depending on how many times you press it. After you stop pressing fast forward it waits a couple of seconds and then jumps ahead the time that you specified.

Sounds like somthing that could be easily integrated into GBPVR (but then again I'm no developer). The steps should be fully configurable like they are in media portal. What do people think does this sound like a good idea?

Sorry, its unlikely I'd do this. I prefer the GB-PVR scheme. FF/RW give 10 second jumps. skip defaults to 1 minute, but you can prefix it with a number of minutes you'd like to skip.

Yeah, my family likes it the way it is.

We've set it up to jump forward 30 sec and back 10 sec. This works GREAT for skipping commercials as most are 30 or 60 seconds long. If you're slow to grab the remote and thus overshoot the last commercial and end up a tad into your program you can just backup 10 seconds and catch the very end of the commercial and start of your show again . . . it works great, give it a try!

Yeah I like that idea. How exactly do you set it up like that?

Ok I tried pressing 3 then ctrl + right... it does skip 3 minutes. I didnt know gbpvr could do that. I guess the media portal way is a little more user friendly, but now I know about it, I think the gbpvr way is better.

You configure it in Config. (that really was not meant to be a smart ass comment.) Wink It is on the playback tab I think. Just pick the number of seconds you want.
