Channel Scan doubles up channels

I'm using a Hauppauge WinTV-Nova TD-500.
A channel scan gets plenty of channels, but some are labeled with "Audio #2", although strangely no sound can be heard when selecting those channels. Also, the EPG gets no information for primary channels, so BBC1 thru Ch5 has no EPG, so I browse the EPG for the "Audio #2" channels, then create a manual recording against the primary. Thirdly, recordings aren't automatically converted to MP4, although a file is created with the correct name (this probably another post). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

After you have done your channel scan, uncheck all the #2 channels and then update your EPG.

Tried that, and now channels seems to line up with the EPG, EXCEPT that channels don't have sound. The rubbish software that came with the tv card worked, but not thru gbpvr. Have I missed something in gbpvr ?

What audio decoder are you using? Have you tried any others?

I was using the system default ones. I already have ffdshow installed on pc for use with ps3 streaming, so chose that, but to no avail.
Why would audio on the "Audio #2" channels work (as discussed earlier in post), and not these ones ?
Should I just switch the remove my current selection, and replace with the "Audio #2" channels ? It's just that BBC1 will show as "BBC1 (Audio #2)", which is a bit odd.

That's what I use too with Nova-T 500's. It's definitely worth trying.

I think Audio #2 are AAC format. Not an expert with ffdshow but isn't their a config section about allowing apps to use it? My vote it to go with the MPA docoder and standard audio channels.

The "Audio #2" channels are for 'visually impaired commentary' and aren't actually separate channels in their own right - they show up as channels as a side-effect of the way gb-pvr scans.

If you watch/listen to one of these channels for long enough, you will occassionally hear a narrator describe non-verbal actions (i.e., "Fred waves to Mary" etc.). On a STB or iDTV with visually impaired commentary enabled, the primary audio stream and the vic stream are mixed together.

As ACTCMS mentioned above, you should ignore (uncheck) the Audio #2 streams and just select the normal ones. If you still have no sound then, as also mentioned, you probably need to download and install a different audio decoder. I'd also recommend the MPA Audio Decoder.

No they're MPEG1 Layer II Audio (see above).

I installed the MPA Decoder, and initially it didn't work. Then thinking this is MSWindows rebooted the PC, and now works great.
