I thought I had solved my problems with the analog side of my Hauppauge1600 (washed out picture, not as crisp as straight out of the STB) by opening GBPVR in VMR9 and adjusting the video proc amp of the 1600 in Graphedit. The picture was very close to the original, but as soon as I opened GBPVR in VMR9 FSE the picture went back to washed out. I played around with both GBPVR (VMR9) and Graphedit, watching the changes as they were being made but each time I opened GBPVR in FSE, the old picture came back. I'm at a loss to explain this if they both use the same player. Could someone shed some light on this for me? Thanks.

Okay, I've found some things by poking around in the registry, but I still have a little more work to do. I still have the WinTV 6 application loaded on the PC so I figured that was a good place to start. I found settings in the HKLM\Software\Hauppauge\hcwTVWnd\SagHarbor\ColorControls key for brightness, contrast, hue, and saturation. That made me look back in WinTV, so I started it up, tuned to an analog channel and, lo and behold, the same settings were there. I tried putting in the same numbers that worked well for me in Graphedit, but the brightness and hue numbers did not correspond so I had to make changes and check back in Graphedit to see where they ended up. When I got them right, I started GBPVR and the picture on analog channels looked much better and the digital channels still looked great.

Now the odd part. If I have to shutdown the PC or restart it, the settings go back to some type of default settings. But if I start WinTV, the settings come back to my changes and stay that way for GBPVR. Now I have to find out where those default, or startup settings, are located so I can change those and then I should be golden.

You can set similar settings in the GB-PVR direct.ini file.

Fanatastic! I'm glad I wrote down the settings I had from Graphedit that made the difference in the picture. I used those settings to check back on after each change I made in the direct.ini file, I was able to get them within one point of each other. Thanks again sub!

Keep that peice of paper. This file is overwritten each time you do an upgrade.
