Fast Playback of Recordings

Before I started using GBPVR, I had a Panasonic DVD Recorder which had a feature that I could play back a recording at 1.3 x Normal Speed. It would do pitch correction so voices sounded normal; just talking faster.

I assume that this is probably exclusively a function of the CODEC but it would be very nice to have this ability again.

I use MediaMVP and Popcornhour A100 exclusively for playback of files so this might present a problem even if an appropriate codec could be found.

Is there anything that could be done to add this fast playback with pitch correction to GBPVR?

This feature is called "time stretch" I used in with MythTV but I considered it more a novelty. For those that haven't seen/heard this feature before d/l smplayer portable and it is enabled by default.

I didn't consider it a novelty at all. I used it to get through shows that I had recorded in less time than watching them in real-time.

The DVD Recorder had the time skip (which could be used with a multiplier like GBPVR does) and that was one more way to getr through a backlog of recordings quicker. I didn't use it on all shows but some shows don't suffer that much from the quicker viewing pace.

Of course, now that I have COMSKIP, I would really hate to do without that.

I'll download SMPlayer and try it but it sounds like it couldn't be incorporated into GBPVR, expecially for users that use MediaMVP or Popcornhour to interface with the program. From what I've read so far on its web site, it also seems that the quicker playback does not do anything about adjusting the sound pitch so it sounds more natural at the faster playback speeds.

I dont have this type of control over playback on the MVP or PCH, so this isnt really possible. Even on the PC some Directshow components would present a problem, so its unlikely we'll see this feature in GB-PVR. Sorry.

That's what I was afraid of. :mad: Just thought I'd ask. It is called a "wish" list.
