I'm in the process of setting up my new rig and I'm having an issue with my TV connection. I'm running an Nvidia 8600 GT card. It has a DVI connector and a vga connector on it. I have my TV connected through HDMI using an HDMI to DVI convertor plugged into the video card, and a monitor connected to the VGA connector.

The issue, is that when I try to boot the PC up, it will hang if the TV is connected. The only way I can get it to work is to unplug the TV, boot the PC, then plug the TV back in and set up all the resolutions and secondary monitor settings. I've found quite a few threads on this topic but very little resolution. Does anyone here know of a resolution to this issue?

Thanks

Have you tried the OverrideEdidFlags registry hack described here:

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?...737&page=2

It is for a desktop size problem, but perhaps ignoring the TV EDID may help with the booting. If you're on XP, you may find the correct registry folder contains only the VolatileSettings sub folder. That's the right one even though it doesn't have the other folders shown in the Vista example in the thread.

Also, you need to get MonInfo to read your TV EDID signature.

Good luck!

it may work if you switch them as primary and secondary monitors in driver...
[tho there are some consequences to that]
also try it as the only connected monitor when booting..[worth a shot]

and when you say won't boot, is it that you can't see anything on either screen? or it errors out or something else?
