I ended up editing out 3 bad channels from the qam.ini that were hanging up the scan and it finally finished! But the program froze again when scrolling down the found channel list. I'm guessing some of those found channels were the "garbage" ones I've been hearing about?

I guess my next step is to use the lineup results using my zipcode/cable company from the silicondust site and edit out any of the channels not on that list?

Would I need to replace the current qam.ini frequencies with the specific HRC frequencies from the other link? (or .xls file).

If so, when editing the qam.ini file with the specific HRC frequencies for each channel, what would be the correct format to do so?

Example:

Qam.ini shows 54000,0,0 for channel 2 (with the appropriate HRC option selected in the manager)

The frequency table for HRC shows 55.752700 for channel 2.

The numbering format is different and there's an extra number. Or would the new qam.ini entry read just fine as 55752700? Or am I understanding everything completely wrong? :p I've been following everything else up to this point.

For the tuning request, you drop the last three numbers so the HRC frequency would be 55750 (the 2 is insignificant). If the drivers for your device automatically add the 1.75MHz offset, you would need to use 54000 (54000 + 1750 = 55750).

If you found more channels with the HRC Center Frequency setting, your driver adds the 1.75MHz to the tuning request. Add the 1.75MHz in your head to the qam.ini frequencies to match them to the frequencies/channels listed on the Silicondust lineup server.

Alternatively, you can let the scan complete with the three channels removed, exit config, and then manually edit your scan-*.cache file to remove everything but the channels you get in the clear. (Keep the ones that have "*" by the name.) Then you can go back into Config and map them.

Getting closer. I edited out the non "*" channels but when I scroll down the channel list I just get audio, no video, in the channel preview box. I tried mapping a couple of the obvious channels like NBC and ABC to test and I still only get audio when I try to watch Live TV.

Most likely related to the decoders that you are using. What are you using for your video decoder?

Zip and post your pvr*.log files after reproducing the issue.

I updated my ffdshow and the previews come in loud and clear now. I mapped and everything is just about perfect, except I'm missing 3 channels I'm supposed to get (and that I got with the Beyond TV trial). One is the HD version of CBS, which is odd because all of the other main networks showed up fine. Coincidentally, 3 was the number of channels I edited out from the scan because it was freezing. I hope the missing channels aren't those channels Sad
