Europe aren't going to given any option to upgrade from vista (or an RC) so it's clean install only.

I pre-ordered 2 copies of win7 for £90.

I see m/s pulled the offer yesterday (for the UK at least) Selling far too many and realised they could make much more money. I was too late to order the cheap copies.

That's the problem as I see it, you can't do a clean install the way I am used to doing it (usually onto a bigger drive) just by inserting you old XP disk during the upgrade because XP has to be installed on the drive. It will probably wipe it it during the install.

For me, my available XP license is an an upgrade edition too that I was planning to use. (I use it in a virual machine) Now I am going to need to install NT, upgrade to XP and then upgrade Win 7. What a nuisance. I will just wait and buy another OEM version if I need it. I considered MSDN like whurlston in the end I decided linux was better for me anyway.

I plan on trying the Vista trick that some say will still work. Install Win7 without the key numbers, then after it is installed (without activation of course), reinstall from within Win7 and that would be the "upgrade". I would think it would still work, after all Win7 is basically Vista, release 2, minus a lot of programs.
Plus, I'm hoping in a dual or triple boot situation, it will search the other partitions for a previous version. Just hope that won't mean you can only use W7 and it won't nullify Vista.
I'm doubtful I'll get a copy this time for testing even though I've been invited to a number of 'private' section testing and focus groups. No matter, I've ordered 2 copies of Pro. I'm liking what I've seen of W7.
