I just did the upgrade and all seems to work. The speed on a chan change is great now. I only have one problem, Now that I can change the chan I find that after about 5 to six chan changes the video starts to lock up. The sound is fine not going out of sink just the video. It seems to lock for a sec and then come back in sink with the sound and then lock again. It will lock about every 3 to 4 seconds for about 1 second. All othere things seem fine I think? I have not tested a recorded show yet I think it is only the live TV. If I close the TV and go back to the guide and then reopen the TV it will play fine. It is only after I have changed the chan a few time s that is starts to lock.

Win 2000
celeron 1 gig
512 meg of ram
FX5600 with dvi out to samsung 40 inch HDTV
win tv pvr250 running off cable (rogers toronto,Canada}

Thanks for your time.

im having the same problem, or a similar one, the tv feed seems to stop and start every so often, just thought it was my crappy machine.  if i stop live tv and go back into it, all is well. using 350 for output, 150 for input. oh hdd is defraged every day (so its not that).

Same thing here. Using the MVP. If I change a channel in live TV, after a minute or so it starts resetting and blanking, then continues doing that at several-second intervals. Like reven says, if I either don't change channels, or if I exit out of live TV and re-enter, all works well.

add one more to that list. i'm having the same problem, using a pvr350

to go along with that.. ti seems that every time the glitch happens, the time-shiting history resets to that spot.

I will add to this list as having the same problem as everyone else. I have an AMD 1.8 ghz machine with the Wintv 350. I could change the channels fine in build 23.23 without the hang up. I upgraded yesterday since my tvguide disappeared and I got that back but now the channels hang after changing the channnel. I can go to the main menu and then back into live tv and that will fix the problem.

I won't tweak with anything today since I am having a superbowl party and don't want to screw anything up. [Image: rock.gif]

But I will try what tipstir said and see if it makes a difference. Although I beleive it is more software related than hardware.

Rex

All in all though for my first PVR experience I am very happy. I tried BeyondTV they don't support my card. SageTv didn't work. I installed GBPVR and it worked out of the box. (or off the web) you get the picture. Hats off to you all.

I have checked my L2 cache settings and they are in sync with the Athlon XP 1800 proc I am running. Just on a side note I have found many google pulls on the L2 setting in the reg and here is one that basically sums it up with most of them.

"SecondLevelDataCache records the size of the processor cache, also known as the secondary or L2 cache. If the value of this entry is 0, the system attempts to retrieve the L2 cache size from the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) for the platform. If it fails, it uses a default L2 cache size of 256 KB. If the value of this entry is not 0, it uses this value as the L2 cache size. This entry is designed as a secondary source of cache size information for computers on which the HAL cannot detect the L2 cache.

This is not related to the hardware; it is only useful for computers with direct-mapped L2 caches. Pentium II and later processors do not have direct- mapped L2 caches. SecondLevelDataCache can increase performance by approximately 2 percent in certain cases for older computers with ample memory (more than 64 MB) by scattering physical pages better in the address space so there are not so many L2 cache collisions. Setting SecondLevelDataCache to 256 KB rather than 2 MB (when the computer has a 2 MB L2 cache) would probably have about a 0.4 percent performance penalty."

Now that would lead me to a memory management software which I have never run before but I have also never run a PVR before so perhaps this would be in order.

My original thought does stand though that this was not a problem until the upgrade to 908. I have 1/2 gig of ram and not really using a 1/3 of it.

Again...thanks for all the hard work put into this project. I am sure a resolution on this will come to light soon.

Also....perhaps a title change on this to reflect the true nature of the problem would get more responses.

Hi!

Same problem here with my PVR-350!

I hope a solution is coming soon!

Worked great until 90.08 and 90.10.....
