I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find it on the forum. I'm trying to set up a server/client and for ohter reasons I can't use simple file sharing. Is that a problem? Any special precautions, like ports that has to be opened in the firewall?

I'm running XP-SP3 on both computers using windows own firewall.

First, follow this http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Config/PCClient

Did you try streaming? Streaming works better for Live TV and just about any type of file play back that doesn't require a lot of bandwidth. If you are trying to do this with wireless you need at least 802.11G. File sharing works better for playing TS files with the patches in the survival guide.

If still to no avail... Some things I think I remember someone correct me if I am wrong... create a c:\temp folder on the client??, share the GBPVR folder and recordings and videos folders on the server, make sure you have your directories in the config app pointed at the server resources... if you cant access them from the client you wont be able to run pvrx2.exe... and in windows firewall, allow exception to pvrx2.exe and config.exe. And lastly, make sure the server is running before you try to run the client Wink

Oh, and you can disable the recording services on the client if you want (optional). That way if you are using clients as a standard PC and the server is off, you wont show 8 recording sources with weird statuses.

Thanks, yes I'm trying streaming and it's a wiered network (100MB/s). The server is, ofcourse, running. Tried file-sharing and got a picture in live-tv but with heavy lagging. I get only black screen using streaming and pvrx2 locks up. There is no error messages in any of the logs.

Did you try MPV and MPA video and audio decoders for playback?

The decoders isn't the problem, to make sure client is working I had a capture card in the client pc and tested everything, it worked perfect. Now, on the server, there is an error message in GBPVRRecordingService.log saying "Expired lease found, requested <xxx> to stop recording". Can this be the problem?
