Config.exe hangs when I try to exit normally. I can cancel, but when I respond OK it just gives me Vista's circular hourglass symbol.

The last line in Config.exe.log is always a simple:
Code:
2009-09-07 08:21:17.576    INFO    [1]    Config is saving settings
The last lines in Config.exe-native.log is always :
Code:
2009-09-07 08:29:04.027    VERBOSE    FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: ATI MPEG Multiplexer
2009-09-07 08:29:04.037    VERBOSE    FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: InterVideo Multiplexer
2009-09-07 08:29:04.052    VERBOSE    FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: ShowShifter MPEG PS Writer
2009-09-07 08:29:04.062    VERBOSE    FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: MainConcept (Hauppauge) MPEG Multiplexer

The title bar shows (Not Responding). Eventually I hit the red X and tell Vista to close the program. I'm not sure how long this has been going on, but I usually just open up config.xml or gbpvr.db3 and do it manually.

I've tried disabling plugins, without any improvement. Suggestions would be welcome!

Depending on the number of channels and the number of tuners you have, config can take a while to exit. It may seem like it's locked when it isn't. Just leave it for a few minutes and it should close on it's own.

Does 30 minutes sound like it's too long?

Yeah, thats too long.

It doesnt look like you've pressed 'ok' in the log you posted though. Can you try again and post the config.exe.log again?

I will do that when I get home (I was doing vehicle repair all yesterday and now I'm at work). I'm pretty sure I pressed OK in the case above. I looked at two sets of logs before posting those (pressed OK in both cases) and IIRC, they both looked the same.

Here's what I'll do:

1) enter config,
2) change something,
3) exit (pressing OK - not cancel)
4) wait 30 minutes - leaving config on, but unresponsive
5) copy logs

Here they are - Config.exe has been hung for 61 minutes. I had to force it closed to free the log.

Sorry, I dont know. I cant see anything in the logs.

Have you tried running the config app with 'run as administrator'? or maybe its already prompting you to do that? If that doesnt help, you might have to try a reinstall.

I've already got admin privileges, and, to be sure, I tried a "run as administrator." It still hangs. I've tired disabling antivirus and firewall, too. It hasn't really bothered me, as things are pretty stable.

Config seems to make some changes before it hangs, so I bail out, then re-enter and check to see if what I need changed has changed. If not, I can always do it manually. When I've got time, I suppose I'll try to figure out what it does and doesn't do before the hang.

It has just occurred to me - is it possible that config is sending me a message that is not getting through? I've turned off a Vista service related to messaging from older pre-Vista apps that was constantly popping up a message box from an older app. (I've temporarily forgotten the service name) Maybe I'll try turning it back on, and see if config is trying to reach me.
