Bought an avermedia duet since it is such an inexpensive dual ATSC PCI-e tuner. I loaded the drivers on their CD and updated the BDA.ini with this:

[AverMedia Duet A188]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=AVerMedia 716x BDA ATSC Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=AVerMedia 716x BDA Digital Capture ATSC
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

It was from this thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...light=duet

The scan crashed because the device could not be found (or something like that).

I ran filtercheck (see the log attached) and it had different filters than the thread so I changed BDA to this:

[AverMedia Duet A188]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=AVerMedia 716x BDA ATSC DC Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=AVerMedia 716x BDA Digital Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

Lo and behold I could scan but there were no channels found :eek:

I loaded everything on the avermedia CD thinking there was some middleware I missed, but still no luck. I tried using the avermedia SW and it successfully scanned and showed live TV.

Logs attached. Any ideas?

Set the logging level back to debug, rescan, then repost the logs and I'll take a look.

I set BDAPsiScanStartupSeconds to 3 thinking the card might require more time, but it didn't help.

Then I thought it might be something with my setup so I upgraded to 1.4.7.

EUREKA it found all the channels. Big Grin I am not sure what it could have been since my other card was able to scan and found channels before the upgrade. All's well that ends well, however.

The one note here is that the Avermedia driver must have changed the filter names (if that is possible? Not sure) so the second BDA entry in post #1 is the correct one for the Avermedia Duet.

I had the same problem with the A188 Duet tuner cards. I think it's the difference between the Retail version and the Whitebox version. Sub, can you add the following to the bda.ini in the next release?

[AverMedia Duet A188 Whitebox]
TUNING_TYPE=ATSC
FILTER_TUNER=AVerMedia 716x BDA ATSC DC Tuner
FILTER_CAPTURE=AVerMedia 716x BDA Digital Capture
PIN_TUNER_IN=Input0
PIN_TUNER_OUT=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_IN=MPEG2 Transport
PIN_CAPTURE_OUT=MPEG2 Transport

This should help prevent some frustration for those with AverMedia cards. Thanks for great PVR software!

If you can bump this thread in two weeks (when I'm back in NZ), I'll add this to the master file.
