I'm using GBPVR 1.4.7, the xmltv plugin, SchedulesDirect, and UltraXMLTV Enhancer 2. Tuners are 2-PVR500's for a total of 4. A couple of questions:

1. Some channels, like SYFY, no longer show listings -- just "no show details" for each time slot. ScheculesDirect says that the data is there. I suspect this is due to the name change from SciFi to SYFY, but I don't know how to fix it.

I ran Update EPG for each tuner (not sure why you have to do this for each tuner, but I did) and zipped the file. It is attached.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

2. Also, while I am at it, if I want to do all of this in a batch file and not through the GBPVR auto update function, how do I set each tuner as to "EPG Source"? And how to disable the GBPVR auto update?

Thanks

1. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...light=syfy

2. a) Not quite sure what you are asking. Do you want a separate EPG for each capture device?
b) A batch file is doing the update already. UpdateEPG.bat in the GBPVR program folder. I wonder if renaming it would keep PVRX2.exe from finding it?

Thanks for the reply. What I meant was to schedule a batch file via Windows task scheduler and not via GBPVR -- like in the Wiki. Seems like it may be easier to troubleshoot. Anyway, that's the way I want to try it.

Ok. But that is what GBPVR does. But if you want to use scheduler exclusively, then I think I would just rename the UpdateEPG.bat to somethingelse.bat and setup your scheduler to run it as you wish. What are you hoping to troubleshoot, may I ask?

I use a batch file that I run manually. It calls my EPG grabber, then UltraXMLTv and then ...

"C:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\pvrx2.exe" -emptyepgonly
"C:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\pvrx2.exe" -updateepgonly

About 100 years ago my EPG went offline now and then and left me with an empty Guide. I do it manually so I can stop it if the xmltv.xml is empty.

When I wrote the notes for using xmltv and UltraXMLTV to use an external Batch file and Windows Scheduling, that was to work with the GB-PVR Recording Service running outside a desktop session.

The GB-PVR RS calls the UpdateEPG.bat, and so it will run whatever is in that batch file in the same session as the Recording Service.

In previous versions, Ultra would not run in any session other than the Logged In Desktop Session. So I advised people to set the GB-PVR Recording Service to Interact with Desktop, OR use an external batch file that is called by Windows Task Scheduler.

The latest versions of Ultra don't have that limitation, so it doesn't matter.

You could set up your UpdateEPG.bat the way you like it, and make sure it runs through manually. (maybe place a 'pause' statement at the end, just to make sure it completes correctly - remember to take it out later)

Once you know you have new listings and they are enhanced, you can be reasonably certain that when GB-PVR calls the UpdateEPG, the process will complete before it attempts to merge (update) the data into the guide.

Or you could still create a different batch file that will call the xmltv downloader and Enhancer. Set it to run from Scheduler BEFORE GB-PVR is set to update its EPG. (In this case make sure you don't havean UpdateEPG.bat in the GBPVR directory).

In this case, after the 'something.bat' is called and completed, there will be a fresh enhanced xmltv file available for GB-PVR when it needs it.

One more thing, Sometimes, when a Cable company changes it's lineup (Maybe SciFi to SyFy) it can maess things up. You might have to run the config for the xmltv/Schedules Direct again to make sure it's up to date. Also, GB-PVR might need to be told to update its Channel list.

Simply emptying and updating the EPG won't straighten out the channel table that's inside GB-PVR. You might want to try: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/EPG#toc41

BE Warned! This will mess up your Digital Channel settings. Use this only if you are using Analog cable
