well, had my fill of this bs...dxva uses same memory no matter what i do...
both cyberlink and avivo[2 of the only ones that do full decode in xp] show same results..
i finally got ffdshow working without memory loss, but it's still only half accelerated...
[just deinterlacing,no decode, tho looks just the same afa quality]

and i tried installing ati drivers in win7 but they would install then not work..
[tho i haven't activated it yet, maybe why?]

so i'm gonna go get a 3850 or another 3650 and be done with it...

in conclusion:
ATI HD4650 lowprofile: 59$
drivers from crappy website: Free

"UVD2"....USELESS!

there's no way i'm running with an extra 500+ megs wasted for nothing!!

I'm running EVR which is probably why I'm not seeing it. I had the same problem with the drivers on Win7. I had to go into device manager and manually update the drivers to the ATI ones.

thing is, i don't want to be forced into moving to vista or win7...

and since the card actually does accelerate, just at the expense of mem, and i can get ffdshow to work without the mem problem, and h264 works fine also w/out mem prob, i'll probably just hold on to it till they decide to fix the drivers or i find a fix..
[i can't return it anyways]

i just put some thermal grease on my 3450 fan and overclocked it to the max..
still a bit conky w/mpchc video decoder, but cyberlink always played 264 flawlessly..

so i'm really not missing anything, the cpu use is actually same as ffdshow, but split among both processors... [ffdshow about 40% on one proc, ati decoder about 20 on both]
i'm just worried it's a memory leak that will grow the more it's used...

i'd still like to hear from anyone who has a hd4xxx card in XP w/vmr9...
