Hi all,

set up a sub-directory on my Main Menu server XP O/S system other day no probs. Tried it on Vista client but didn't get same results, all Main Menu items still load the same.

Syntax in Config.xml that is relevant is:

<!-- Menu Layout -->
<ExternalMenuLayoutFile>MainMenu-MMC R4.xml</ExternalMenuLayoutFile>
<ExternalMenuLayoutFileX2>MainMenu-MMC R4.xml</ExternalMenuLayoutFileX2>
<StartWithButtonMode>true</StartWithButtonMode>
<MenuLayout>
<SubMenu name="Television">Television<Task enabled="true">TV Guide</Task><Task enabled="true">Recordings</Task><Task enabled="true">Live TV</Task><Task enabled="true">Search Guide</Task></SubMenu>

What have I missed? :confused:

Something to do with where Vista stores some stuff that XP doesn't or even more silly me?

Cheers

Remember on Vista/Win7 when editing config.xml you need to run with administrator rights. If you did, make sure you remove any copy config.xml in the VirtualStore.

Ah ha I knew it was something to do with Vista, I'm still an XP boy sad though it is! Config.xml ran with Admin rights so how do I delete virtual store entry i.e. where is it?

Cheers Martin

Soooooo simple when you know how! But me no Vista or Win 7 bod. I feel a Wiki page coming on to explain........ This virtual store thing, I had a suspicion that GBPVR was referencing some other data reference/store but being that I've only used it with XP for so long......

Will this be built into Sub's new architecture/re-write do you think? To delete this stuff auto?

Thanks so much Martin

Cheers

i second that, would be in favor of cleanup, and also maybe just a button to edit with notepad w/admin rights or a shortcut in start menu and tray app..
that way it'd be convenient and everybody has notepad, and it's in the path...
well, maybe not tray app, but a shortcut would be good..[made by installer if vista detected]

I intend to make changes in the next release so that virtual store is no longer a problem.
