TV channels come up and play but then kick me

If you want to do live tv, then you're kind of screwed.

If you're mainly interested recordings, then client server mode should work fine for you, but you'll probably need to watch recordings from the Video Library with a share to the server's recording directory.

You could have a look into DVBLogic/TVSource with network pack.
I am using the first 2 packages in combination with GB-PVR.
With the network pack you can view live tv and make recording from anywhere in your house where you have a PC. It creates virtual tuners on a single box where you have all your physical tuners. Those virtual tuners can be used in your network.
