Windows 7 - horrible compared to XP - help!

One thing I have noticed is that the windows 7 video card drivers don't get along well with gbpvr. Go to the manufacturers website and download their latest drivers. It sorted out all my problems.

I have Windows 7 64 bit and GBPVR (with EVR) running fine, looking at my configuration notes I have:

Install AC3Filter (Lite) to fix no Sound in Playback...
Install NativeUtilities patch for LiveTV
Install fdshow_beta6_rev2527 (32 bit) + Enable MPEG-2 libmpeg2.dll, for "MPEG-2 Video" playback
Install MONOGRAM AAC Decoder ...
... Copy mmaacd.ax to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
... C:\windows\sysWOW64\regsvr32 C:\Windows\sysWOW64\mmaacd.ax, for "HE-AAC Audio" playback

I use the following Playback settings:
Video Renderer: EVR
MPEG-2 Playback ...
... Video Decoder: CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9)
... Audio Decoder: MPEG Audio Decoder
... AC3 Decoder: AC3Filter
... Audio Renderer: System Default
Advanced Codec ...
... H.264 Decoder: Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder
... AAC Decoder: MONOGRAM AAC Decoder
... HE-AAC Decoder: MONOGRAM AAC Decoder
... DD+/E-AC3: System Default

I have recently installed PowerDVD 10, so may try the PDVD10 drivers soon, but at the moment all is working perfectly.

For DVD, I use the "MPC-HC MPEG2 Decoder (Gabest)". It's the only one that I have found that gives me menus with highlighting consistently. The MPC decoder is a continuation of the MPV decoder.

@Pob, do you know the filename of the PP decoder? I have never heard of it but I suspect that it is the Cyberlink Power Producer decoder.

Yup. There is that. I might try that PP decoder (if it is the Power Producer one). It would be great to get HW deint + menu highlighting.

You are quite right, it is from Power Producer and shows in the list of decoders as PP Video Decoder. But I can't work out what the actual file is called - presumably it is one of the many AX files in the cyberlink folder. I installed the Cyberlink Blue-ray disc suite that came with my BD drive but because I use this PC to run GBPVR 99% of the time, I never even noticed Power Producer was installed! It does appear to use DXVA. I still think there is one small disadvantage in using hardware acceleration in the Cyberlink decoders - the picture appears a bit softer. (Because when DXVA is used you can only alter the picture using the video card settings).
