Splash Screen

I have two PCHs and use them through wired and wireless connection. When I start gbpvr, there is always a delay, the length depends on whether I am using wired/wireless link and if the server drives are at sleep. The family complains about nothing happening (blank screen for 5-20 seconds) before the interface loads. Is there a way to show a splash screen, or something similar, while gbpvr loads?

I have thought about it but decided that it was more trouble then it was worth. I could do this with mvpmc for the MVP because it already had font and graphic support, I'd have to add it. In a typical setup there should be about a second of blank screen. I guess if you are using CSI or USB it might take time for GB-PVR to wakeup drives but if your mvpmc share is on the GB-PVR server sleeping isn't a problem.

The only scenario I can think it would be nice is would be when using WOL, but unless you regularly have problems where the GB-PVR menu doesn't appear eventually, just tell the family that the blank screen is normal while GB-PVR powers up. TV's used to do this.

Ah, the satisfying glow and smell of warming valves

Our lot have got used to the roughly 40 seconds for the server to wake up from hibernate. At any other time the menu pops up within 10 seconds (sadly, close to a child's attention span !!)

I've trained my family to turn on the MVP, then turn on the TV, then, maybe channel flip a little, then switch the TV to the MVP.

Or not so satisfying non-glow. A childhood memory of mine, that many GBPVR users have ever experienced, is taking a paper bag of tubes (valves) to the store to figure out why the TV wasn't working.
