This problem has occurred twice in the last week, each time at the weekend
The recording service locks up. It seems to try to start a recording and never finishes. Result is that 24 hours later the status page says it is still recording the programme in question - when it finshed long ago - and all subsequent recording requests are ignored. The only way to get out of this is to either hard reset or stop the last GBPVR process through task manager, then do a software restart - if I don't stop all the GBPVR processes a software restart doesn't happen. The first time I thought it must be some hardware glitch, but now it looks like a GBPVR problem to me. One odd thing, I tried stopping GBPVR through the 'stop recording service' command which worked for everything but the iplayer process, which i had to stop through task manager. I don't use iplayer. it doesn't work (see my posts of six months ago), but I don't know how to get it out of the system. Maybe its this that is casuing the problem, though why it should have started now i don't know
Attached is a set of the logs. They were taken after the restart so the recordingserice -1 are the ones to look at

One more thing I have just seen. The system was set to record two programmes at the same time (dual tuiner card) one on BBC1 and one on BBc4. it did in fact record the BBC1 programme, although until I restarted it didn't show up in 'whats new'. the second programme failed, the file shows up on the had drive, but has zero length, and in PVRX2 it shows up but obviously can't be played. Two subsequent programmes were missed altogther, and after restart show up as 'failed'

There was a small group of people in the past that had reported similar symptoms, but unfortunately I was never able to reproduce it so I dont have any good suggestions for you.

Given GBPVR is no longer being maintained, it might be worth seeing if you have similar issues with NPVR. Hopefully you wont. If you do though, I'll help provide additional logging etc to see if we can find the cause.

@StevHodge,

Sorry, I didn't see your post back in May when you posted it, else I would have pointed you to my thread about this very issue here: http://forums.gbpvr.com//showthread.php?...ed-all-day

As sub said, there were a few of us who had this issue but we could never come up with an exact cause. I have now moved on to N-PVR. I have had similar things occur with N-PVR, but so far it's always been after something else weird has happened in the user interface, which of course leaves a chicken-or-the-egg situation. Given the beta nature of the software, I'm waiting until things settle down some before reporting anything.

Thanks, sub, Johnson - I'll move to NPVR - which had passed me by - and hope it doesn't re-occur

Installed NPVR - works nicely - however

Lock-up just occurred in NPVR. Logs attached. Two - see Nrecord log file at 19.59 on 13.10 - programs start recording at that time, but 17 minutes later they both stop recording, as near as I can see at the same moment. (you can't see this from the logs, but I can tell from the partial files).One program (masterchef) was an hour, and Nrecord seems from the log to stop the recording when the hour is up. The masterchef stub recording shows up in NPVR - recordings but is only 17 minutes long. Nrecord then locks up completely and the other recording (midsomer murders) which was running but also stopped at 17 minutes is marked as failed. (the file is on the disc however but only 17 minutes long) All subsequently scheduled recordings also fail. The sytem is completely locked, and needs a hardware reset to get it going again. Cannot even force a software restart

Just seen that we have a new NPVR edition, will install that and report if this happens again

If it occurs again with 1.5.33 then repost in NPVR support.
