Under the cover view for the videos library, is the data from a .xml file supposed to show up on the default skin? I get the video details when in list view but don't see an image and I can see the image in cover view but it does not show the movie details.

The default skin doesnt show any metadata in covers view. Its all available though if someone wants to create another skin file that shows it.

Ok, I've done minimul searching in case this has been posted before so forgive me. I understand that in list view the default skin is supposed to display metadata for the video library but not in covers view. What i've found now is that if I have just a moviename.jpg file I can see the image in list view and if I only have moviename.xml file it will dispaly the description of the movie and filename as title but if I have both it will only show the image file(ie if I have both moviename.jpg and moviname.xml it only shows the image for that movie). Is this by design or am I missing some configuration to show both?

Interesting I am getting exactly the opposite, it will display the metadata but not the image if I have both, I have found if I change the image from being moviename.jpg to folder.jpg it will then display both the image & metadata.

It should show you both. This is what I get with image and metadata file.

However, I keep all my videos under one folder and this would make all the videos have the same image. If I added another image with the same name as the movie it will do the same thing and only show the metadata.

I saw on one of the skin threads a mention of an option in config.xml to hide file extenstions. I checked it out and once I changed that to true the metadata for the video library now displays both the cover art and info when in list view on the default skin.

It took me a week to figure it out but I had to change all my png and jpg files to 'folder' to get them to work. Many were named 'folder.origianl' but I didn't do that and don't know what program did.

Can anyone suggest a good (free) program to grab as much metadata as possible for my movies and tv shows?

I think what's being said is that for those of us who keep multiple videos in the same directory, "folder.jpg" isn't feasible. GB-PVR allowed this because Star Trek The Wrath of Kahn.jpg is associated with the movie file as well as the .xml.

I think I ran into this testing the initial release of NPVR, but didn't look into it like the poster here did. I haven't looked again with the latest beta update.
