I'd have no idea. I'd suggest just not doing that. Big Grin

Maybe I'll be the guinea-pig then on that one. There are other users who would probably have far more reason than me to want to merge channels on the same capture source; particularly QAM users. QAM users tend to get HD versions of their channels on several frequencies, and then SD versions of all the same channels crammed onto just one or two other frequencies. If they can merge the channels, they can leverage multi-record more effectively. But we would want the priority to be predictable so that the HD version would be chosen first, and the SD version chosen only when necessary (or maybe the reverse, I suppose each user would have their preferences).

My situation is much simpler: my local Fox station, KTTV, has had some signal coverage area problems since the digital transition here (though I recevie their main HD broadcast just fine). As they own several other transmitters, they've put an SD version of Fox on other transmitters including KCOP which I record from frequently. More than once I've wanted to watch or record a Fox broadcast when both other tuners were in use, but one of the tuners was indeed tuned to KCOP - so if I had the Fox alternate on that station mapped and merged, I'd still be able to watch Fox.

With GB-PVR such things were accomplished by creating multiple capture sources for the same tuner, and then mapping the channels appropriately.

Now of course I could just keep the Fox alternate channel as a separate channel, but then it would never be used unless I explicitly schedule a recording for it. The idea is to have it *just happen*, all automatic like....
