G'day All,
(Are OT posts allowed? If not please delete this.)

I presume some of you have archived your recording from .ts to DVD. I'm having a problem with DVDflick and other apps in that they either won't recognise the file or gets the aspect wrong even though I select 16:9, etc, etc.

Has anyone had any luck converting .ts directly to DVD? If so, how and what app?

Thanks in anticipation,
build

I have Nero Vision 7 and it seems perfectly happy to read and convert HD .ts files to DVD format, though it's not something I do much at all.

or, if you watch the forum real careful, there will be a spam post a couple of times a day with a title like "How to convert TS file to AVI/MPEG/VOB/WMV/3GP/MP4/HD videos, etc. ". However you have to act fast, for McBain and I strike down upon them with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy our forum [with spam] Big Grin.

Does any of the software in the spam adverts actually work? I just send a complaint to you guys on sight!! Smile out of interest, does the reports annoy the mods or help?

It's a good question though as I used to write DVDs for the inlaws when we had recordings they wanted and from .mpg recordings is was easy. I've not sussed out how to do it easily from .ts. I do have Nero vision so should give it a try. Problem is I think it always insists on recoding the video which seems a total waste of time when you have a nice mpeg2 stream in the .ts.

yes, I was largely joking about actually trying one of those spam apps. anything advertised that way can't possibly be wise to install, to say nothing of what might happen if you pay them for it.

Nero vision won't recode the video if it's already in a truly DVD compliant format, but that's the whole point - your recordings aren't DVD compliant, hence you need to recode/transcode them. As I mentioned in the other thread you posted about this, you can transcode with ffmpeg, but if you've got Nero Vision that's certainly the easy way.

edit: by "you" above I meant Build, I didn't immediately notice that the post I appear the be responding to was from BigMoose

by the way, where's the props for my clever use of a pulp fiction quote? I guess if I have to ask it was either less clever than I thought, or no one got it Rolleyes

(and yes, I get it, it's a quote from Ezekiel, but it's pulp fiction that gave it street cred)

While I like the quote ( which I did recognize ), I would like to instead applaud and thank you and the other moderators who 'strike down upon them with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy our forum'
This is one of the most courteous, polite, on problem and helpful places I've seen on the internet. Ever.
