Hauppauge HD-PVR Question

I am thinking about getting one of these Hauppauge HD-PVRs. Does anybody know if there are any problems using them with NPVR, or should I be ok. My cable boxes have component out, so I figured I would take advantage of this.

Martin is having an issue with the audio going out of sync and I don't think it's been resolved yet. I've been unable to test it since I no longer have a cable box.

I am a big fan of the HDPVR. I was reluctant to buy it because I read lots of bad things all over the web. I had major troubles at first, but these turned out to be related to the USB port I was using and moving it to another port fixed that. After that I also had problems with the GB-PVR native support and I had to install the GraphRecorder plugin. NPVR's support is even better.

Hardware wise mine is quite stable I have had to turn off the HD PVR occasionally to reset it but I wouldn't say I have to do it more often then powering off my PC to "fix" my HVR 1600

Performance is good with NPVR I use a ffdshow tryout for both the h264 video and 5:1 AC3 that I capture and I have only 35% CPU with an older low end E2140 CPU with IGP G945 and there is no stuttering on recordings or live tv. Whurlston mentioned the problem with sync in .33 but I am confident that sub will fix this when I gets back. The compressed h264 video is not as good as a full ATSC signal but the file size is nice. Having an analog clock there is also no issue with timelines that broadcast files might have.

I do recommend using firewire tuning, if you can. I watch a lot of LiveTV from the PCH and the PC and the tuning is great.

Cool. Thanks for the input. I actually use firewire tuning already too. Hopefully by the time I get one of these the audio sync problem is fixed.
