Analog recording quality

A friend read where the HVR2250 can only record analog at a bitrate of 6000. I know I could record at 9000 in GBPVR but can't seem to beat 6000 in NVPR and don't see in the config where I can set this. I also recall someone asking about this but the search feature in this forum isn't something I would brag about but I did look for it.

Where in config.xml might I find this setting?

I'm pretty sure the hardware encoder on the HVR 22x0 devices is only capable of 6000.

That said, there is no bitrate control in the current build of NPVR, so you cant be setting it anywhere in there.

sub beat me to it, but I also seem to remember some older threads about bitrate limitation imposed by Hauppauge's drivers (presumed overheating issues IIRC)

That's pretty much what I've been reading but why am I showing 9000 when I record with GBPVR? It's likely my ignorance but since a friend asked, I'd like to let him know (and won't take credit for the information)
