Hi,

Turning on nPVR after a couple of weeks absence from TV I'm finding the program guide is mostly blank, saying "no show details" for most channels and times, but not all.

It worked fine last time I tried it. Didn't change anything since. (It wasn't working before I applied the patches in the other post of mine from a few minutes ago, so I know the patches have nothing to do with this.)

I went to right-click > settings > channels > update EPG and it didn't fix anything.

Any suggestions how to fix?

Also, just curious, when i right-click and hit "channels" what is supposed to happen?

Thanks,
David

What EPG source are you using? If you're using xmltv, does your xmltv file have up to date listings in it?

Nothing at this stage. Later it'll how a simple popup box with list of channels for the user to select a channel to watch. Its intended for those people that just want to use the application to watch TV and dont want a full PVR with menus etc.

Yes, I'm using XMLTV. It did not have the up to date listings in it. So I ran mc2xml.exe again. Is there any parameter to set so that when you launch npvr it automatically checks and updates the epg info?

It'll normally update over night at the specified time. If you want to force a one off update, you can just click the 'update epg' button in the settings screen, or run "nextpvr.exe -updateepg"

I tried clicking update epg before I posted the query. It went through the motions but didn't have the desired effect. My guess is that it was reloading the xml file but not generating a new XML file. But that's just a guess.

Could you please remind me where the parameters that specify the refresh time are stored?

Thanks.

It just reads the xml file you pointed at. It doesnt generate a new xml file for you. Thats up to you.

Some people run their xmltv grabber from the Windows Scheduler. Some run it from an UpdateEPG.bat file, which is called by NPVR prior to updating the EPG.

Where should the UpdateEPG.bat be located in order that it be run automatically when nPVR is launched?

thanks
