I think I see what is happening. It's seeing your Nova-T and Nova-HD-S2 tuners, and they're looking like the combined tuners you get on the HVR-3000/HVR-4000 which can only be used one-a-time.

You can fix it by deleting the following two lines from DeviceRules.xml:

<Filter name="Hauppauge WinTV 88x DVB-S/S2 Tuner/Demod" resource="Hauppauge 88x" />
<Filter name="Hauppauge WinTV 88x DVB-T Tuner/Demod" resource="Hauppauge 88x" />

I'll think further about how to this without you having to delete those lines. I'm not sure I can though. For now, at least there is a work around.

Fantastic, all working a treat currently recording 2 progs on each digital tuner.

Should I be thinking of moving to Windows 7 soon? Is that the best OS for npvr now?

yea, win7 works a charm with media playback..drivers are actively worked on and acceleration is easy on 7..
much fewer problems than with xp..

Yeah, that's what I thought. Only thing is I don't use the PC to view anything, it's just a recording server, we only ever use PCH or MVPs so as long as the PC sits quietly (in the loft) churning out reliable recordings I'm happy...

I recently installed 2.3.6 and then got this problem again so had to edit DeviceRules.xml again. Thankfully I remembered it as soon as I saw I had unexpected conflicts but maybe it needs a more permanent fix if it's not too difficult, I wasted hours when I first experienced the problem!

Yes, I know its still an issue. Unfortunately I'm not sure what to do about it.

These rules are needed for some devices. You just have an unfortunate combination of devices (which are very closely related, and use the same drivers but with different capabilities). There is no calls to determine the actual device type, so I can only depend on the filter names.
