I expect that I'm over looking something, but I have yet to find a clean simple way to stop a recording in progress. I've scheduled recording manually, usually weekly, but then something has preempted the show that I wanted to record and I just want to stop the recording in progress without removing or impacting future weekly recordigs. But I can't find any control to stop the recording, as it is going on in the background and I can't find anything on the NPVR GUI to stop it.

This isn't a major problem, I just deleted the TS file after the recording finished. But it seems like there should be some way to interact with the recording process that I'm missing.

The in-progress recording is listed in Recordings, on the What's New, Recordings, and Pending lists. In any one of them if you press Enter on the recording, there is an option to Cancel. That will have no effect on future recordings. You can also cancel the recording from the TV Guide by the same means.

Just a comment, if you set up a manual recording (like Mark said) you will not see it in the TV-Guide and thus cannot cancel it from there. I haven't tried, but it should work from Pending screen.

ah, yes, of course a manual recording would not show up in TV Guide. other types do. Usually.
