Hi guys,

I was toying around in the backgrounds images and was triing to make my own. I had cut an image for 16:9 aspect and wanted to make the same one for 4:3. For some reason, the Window (not in fullscreen) does not change aspect when I change it in settings (general).
I just applied the System Plugin last night, hope it did not break the "TV Shape" aspect changing.

I welcome your input

Claude

Edit: Should have specified that I am running 1.5.36+patchs System 0.10.12.24

I think you have to change the UI resolution to see 4:3 on a 16x9 monitor and if you are not maximized you also have to shake the NPVR window with your mouse to get it to refresh to 4:3 each time you start.

Sub, I'm under the impression that setting nPVR to 16:9 would display on my PC screen as a 16:9 (ratio) window, and changing that to 4:3 would make the Window narrower, but it doesn't.

I've attached a small printscreen to show what I mean. You can see the background image that I am toying with that is 1920x1080. If I use the same image on a 4:3 screen it will be distorded. I want to make one that is 1920x1280 to display but I cannot get a 4:3 window on my PC to see the final (TV) result.

Sorry if I'm wording this wrong.

Nope, sorry! I set my 16:9 screen to 1280x1024 and nPVR window still does not change to 4:3 ratio, it is still wide.
Thanks Martin, could have worked.

That's not correct. The 'TV Shape' setting only affects the way video is shown. The actual shape of the window is always the same ratio as your desktop. For example, one user might have a 4:3 screen running at 1024x768, and another user might have a 16:9 screen also running at 1024x768, and this setting allows the application to show the video in appropriate way to keep the correct aspect ratio.

I don't have that resolution but the others work. Did you restart NextPVR and then try nudge the corner to make it switch to 4:3 It always starts 16:9

OK, got it.
Wow, this test really f...ed up my desktop icons!!! I'll have to reposition them all by hand...
I'm running XP by the way.
Sub, if the desktop was 16:9 and you change it to 4:3, nPVR does not ajust automatically. Grabbing the bottom right corner and moving it resets it to 4:3. Don't know if I would call this a bug as poeple don't usually do that. I'm just testing aspect ration for some images that I would want as background.

Martin, don't know if that's what you ment by nudging the corner, but grabbing it and moving it did the trick. Don't know if your running Win7 and nudging has a different effect.

Thank you all for your patience.

Yes that is what I meant. You will probably be back to 16x9 anyway the 4:3 fonts don't look as good. It's just a matter time, there is more and more HD all the time, I think you got CFCF recently.

Thanks Martin,
Actually, it's not that I want to run in 4:3 but I saw that other users still did. My secret goal here was to propose a few backgrounds to Sub from my personnal collection. And I was triing different aspect with different picture sizes.

Bienvenue
