Right now I have the two files. How did you select which channels to allow when you used the mc2xml, did it ask you after you dled it? Right now I guess I need to figure the blaster situation out so I can see if my second analog tuner is even working.

When you run mc2xml, you can use the -C flag to specify which channel file you want. (Note that it is "-C" and not "-c".) Google for more info. The page for mc2xml tends to move around so I am hesitant to post a link that might not work at a later time. It is probably worth it for you to find it's page and read about how to use the command line parameters.

You don't need the blaster to see if the analog tuner works. The baster is just used to save you from having to sit there with the remote and control your STB. The tuner will grab whatever your STB puts out with or without the blaster. You can manually change the channel on your STB to test the tuner. When you have that working, then you can work on getting the blaster to control the changing of channels.

npvr doesn't have the codes to your STB. you have to use an outside program for that, like HIP. once HIP can talk to your STB, you configure a channel changer executable in NPVR that tells HIP what to send to your STB.

NPVR------>channel changer.exe (like hipsend or net2hipsend)----->HIP----->ir blaster----->stb

Ok, that makes a little more sense. So is hipsend a separate program from hip?

Ok, thats good to know. I think I will try to get two separate lists for my tuners, just to be sure there isn't some conflict there. When I work on it again tonight I will test that part out with my stb remote.

Anyone have ideas about hip giving me that error?

From your explanation it sounds like HIP cannot read from your IR-receiver. Are you sure it is plugged in correctly?

Thats what I was thinking. Here is my setup for that; STB into a/v panel via composite video and l/r audio into 1/8 jack, ir blaster / receiver plugged into blaster 2 slot on a/v panel, blaster directly over ir receiver on stb and ir receiver in front of tv.

Then after you set it up with the Hauppauge software, you just use Haupblast.exe to send the ir commands.

Alright, tried to set up the blaster config. However, I get an error every time I try to teach the config use my stb remote. "remote does not appear to support toggle bit. retry learning" each time I retry this I get the same message, so needless to say I haven't got very far. I also search online and wasn't finding much help either.

If I were in your situation I'd buy an USBUIRT, it can be used both as receiver and blaster.

Seems like a cool device. I think for the price though I would just get win7 and use 7mc, altough I am not sure that would help my situation any. I sent a tech request to haup about it, I guess we will see what comes of it. Are there any other options, other than the usbuirt?
