When you run mc2xml, you can use the -C flag to specify which channel file you want. (Note that it is "-C" and not "-c".) Google for more info. The page for mc2xml tends to move around so I am hesitant to post a link that might not work at a later time. It is probably worth it for you to find it's page and read about how to use the command line parameters.
You don't need the blaster to see if the analog tuner works. The baster is just used to save you from having to sit there with the remote and control your STB. The tuner will grab whatever your STB puts out with or without the blaster. You can manually change the channel on your STB to test the tuner. When you have that working, then you can work on getting the blaster to control the changing of channels.
