I just did a clean install of npvr 2.0.3 on my Win7 x64 SP1 development system (no tv tuner installed), and I cannot get into either the Decoders settings or the DVD settings. I'm guessing the problem could be similar to a posting I found earlier "NPVR Crash viewing Settings.Decoders after installing new DVB-T2 card".

My npvr.log gives very little detail:

[...startup]

The Windows crash window has the following:

Any thoughts what could cause this?

It says it's crashing inside vmnc.dll, which google indicates is part of VMWare? Are you running this in a VM?

Ok, but for whatever reason, this fault is occuring in vmnc.dll so it's something to do with VMWare.

I tried attaching VS2010 when it crashed and all it really displayed is "Unhandled exception at 0x07162a3b in NextPVR.exe: 0xC0000096: Privileged instruction." I've had VMWare installed for 1.5.36 with no problems. I'll continue to investigate...

I dont think its any general incompatibility of the two apps though, because I have VMWare installed here without any problems.

I uninstalled VMWare and rebooted and now it displays:

So, I'm guessing my VMWare may not be the issue. I tried reinstalling npvr 2.0.3 but still has the same problem. I'll see if I have a backup copy of 1.5.36 and give that a whirl.

I only read a little bit about it and it seems that it is Windows way of saying that it has no clue as to what just happened.

I've installed version 1.5.33 and it crashed too. The only two things I did prior to installing 2.0.3 was installing SP1 and updating the ATI driver to 11.2. I tried backing out the ATI driver, but that didn't help the crash. So, I'm starting to think that maybe SP1 on this computer may have did something to cause this. AND naturally, I did a disk cleanup just this morning so I can no longer uninstall SP1 to see if it indeed is the culprit. Npvr 2.0.3 runs fine on two other boxes. One running Win7 x86 SP1 and the other running Win7 x64 SP1. Oh well.
