Hi - A few days back I put a new Nova HD-S2 card in my PC (running windows 7 64bit) but i can't get it to work. Trying to initiate a scan in NPVR causes a message box to be displayed saying "Unable to start device: Device failed to start". Any ideas why? (Hopefully the correct log file is attached).

Also under Device Manager it looks like one of the drivers hasn't installed for some reason which is "Hauppauge WinTV 88x TS Capture (69xx)". Am i missing a driver and can anyone let me know where i can find the correct one.

thanks in advance

I have a similar setup Nova HD S2 plus Nova T using the drivers detected by Windows 7 64 bit on installation.

Try deleleting the card from device manager , and reinstall.

It may be worth while running the Hauppauge file that removes the registry entries before reinstalling.

Success! I followed hansol123's advice and eventually after searching further on the internet i now have a working NOVA HD S2 card. The steps I went through (as far as i can remember as I tried a number of different things) were

1 - Download the HD S2 drivers from the Hauppauge support pages

2 - Download the following file wintv7_cd_2.3g.exe (unfortunately I don't have the link for where i got it from - sorry)

3 - Run the HcwDriverInstall.exe from the drivers you downloaded in part 1

I'm not sure if this is specific to Windows 7 64bit which I'm running but after installing the drivers a message box was displayed that said that the 'WinTV Cx880 AVstream TS/Encoder Driver' was not digitally signed.

4 - Run the exe file downloaded in part 2 which creates a folder on the C: drive

5 - In device manager in the 'Sound, video and game controllers' section, for any items that haven't installed correctly (as highlighted by the little yellow symbol), right click and select 'Update Driver Software...' and select 'Browse my computer for driver software' and then navigate to the drivers folder which was created in part 4 above (in my case this was C:\Hauppauge\WinTV v7 CD 2.3g\Drivers). Make sure to click the option that says something to do with searching sub folders and then you should get the right drivers picked up.

I would certainly advise restarting your PC at this point, then again after NPVR has run a scan for the first time - i don't know why but it certainly helped.

Anyway, i hope that helps people if they run into the same problem as i did.
