which is really odd, because your logs say everything is working as expected. the only anomaly in your logs is that your tuner is reporting no signal lock, 0 strength and 0 quality, but it seems to do that all the time even during your scan when it is clearly finding channels.

how many tuners do you have? just the one?

I can't believe this.

I had to reboot my system for something not connected with NPVR and then tried it again and it is working.

Thank you for everyone who helped. I would never have been able to reinstall NPVR without your help.

Sometimes a capturedevice can "hang", and a reboot or complete power down/up helps.

delete c:\program files\npvr
delete c:\users\public\npvr

in registry, delete hklm\software\npvr & hkcu\software\npvr

at elevated command prompt, run:
sc delete "npvr recording service"

reboot

re-install NPVR 2.1.5

edit: it may be best to turn off User Account Control, at least temporarily, until you get this sorted out.

I think it is much more sensible to RENAME rather than delete c:\users\public\npvr or where ever the NPVR data directory is located in your version of Windows. There is potentially a lot of useful data in the directory such as Recording Backups, channel icons or scripts etc. You can delete the old NPVR directory later once you have the new install fully working and you are certain no more files from the old setup are required.

Thank you, I will bear all this advice in mind.

Hopefully I will not need it again.
