I'm getting choppy audio on my analog TV. HD is fine. I'm in the Northeast US on the local cable system.

Here's my current decoder config:

Here's a partial of the AC3 Filter settings that feed into my amp for Dolby PLII:

Universal Sports is one of the choppy audio channels. (Wish they were in HD)

Thanks for any ideas. I'm really liking the new build especially for manual recordings.

analog just uses MPEG1 audio. have you tried Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder or AC3Filter? you could also try the LAV Decoder

also, I don't know if it makes any difference any more, but you should have the unused audio decoders disabled. you're not using E-AC3, AAC, or HE-AAC.

Not familiar with the LAV Decoder. Can you point me to it if not in my list?

Couple of thoughts: Microsoft audio decoder doesn't work with 3rd party apps like NPVR. I use AC3 filter for both AC3 and MPEG audio. I see you have ffdshow selected for MPEG; I haven't had any success with ffdshow decoders while others really like them. I'd try AC3 for all audio. You can also look at the NPVR log after playing a recording or live TV and see what decoders were actually used.

Also, I don't know what audio encoding is used for these "minor" channels, might just be MPEG stereo. Here Universal Sports is a SD channel on clear QAM and has a terrible picture, especially the bike races. Sad

Also I can disable MPEG1 Audio but not AC3. It seems that the audio is somewhat better with MPEG1 Disabled. My AC3 filter is always on when I feed audio to my amp in Windows7. Now everything is disabled except AC3 using AC3 filter. Not perfect but not terrible. I'll check the log.

@mikeh49: The Microsoft decoder does work for MPEG1, but not AC3.

@Jimdish255: it sounds like you have the cursed "Annoying Choppy Audio" problem (search the forum for that thread title). regarding the LAV decoder: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=156191

I have noticed that a few of my channels have the choppy audio at times too. It's not been troublesome enough that I've gone to any great lengths to fix it. no one really seems sure where it comes from.

I got rid of the curse by installing the LAV decoder(s).

For clarification the HDPVR/Colossus is analog with AC3 up to 5.1 or AAC audio. If NPVR would realize this, my LiveTV experience would be enhanced.
