you need to update the path to nscripthelper at the beginning. Mine is coded for 32-bit. I think you can't have any spaces in the path, that's why mine was set to progra~1. Yours is probably progra~2

also, you need the sleep command from the win2k3 resource kit: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en

edit: from a command prompt you can use 'dir /x' to confirm the short name of the c:\program files(x86) directory. however if progra~1 isn't working on your system, then it's a pretty safe bet it's progra~2.

Ah, that did it.

I had changed the path to C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\NScriptHelper.exe, but guess that does not work. You were correct, the short name is progra~2.

I received a notice that the resource tools were incompatible with my system (win7 64), but after making a system restore point, I added it anyway. Seems to be OK so far, hope I don't regret that...???

Thank you so much for your help with that. Looks great.

Like a previous post suggested, it would be nice to be able to control a bit more on the name, like a short name for a series, some are pretty long, but I know that would need to the db to be modified to accept user input for that...

I want to tweak the renaming script to also trigger a program that extracts the closed captioning to an srt file. Can you help with the syntax of passing the renamed file name to the executable. If I ran it at a command line it would be:

C:\Program Files (x86)\CCExtractor\ccextractorwin.exe inputfilename -out=srt -utf8 --nofontcolor -trim

So inputfilename is the new file name from the renaming process. How do I pass that and will the full file directory be passed with it? I tried:

set CCExtract=C:\Progra~2\CCExtractor\ccextractorwin.exe

and then at end of process I added

%CCExtract% "%newname%%~x1" -out=srt -utf8 --nofontcolor -trim

But I get a correctly named EMPTY srt file in the Script folder...So I need to set the directory where the new .ts file is saved...how?

In your post above, I'm seeing a "space" between the ".e" and "xe" at the end, but it's not in the quote source like that. I think that one of those characters may be "messed up." I'd try editing your script file to just delete those characters, and then manually type them back in.

Yes, that was just a mistake in this post, the script did not have the space. It does appear to run the ccExtractor since it is creating an .srt file, but it is empty and in the NPVR\Script folder which tells me it is not finding the original file as it should place the .srt file in the same directory as the source. I just don't know how to retrieve the correct directory and file name (which will change with each recording) to pass to the application...

In theory you should be able to turn on closed-captioning directly in NPVR without creating an srt file, but it has been broken for me for about a year.

I also want the option to have it in case I want to burn files to disc - Video Rendering software can not read the closed caption.
