I have been running my current gbpvr system for many years with no problems. About a month ago, it started failing on some recordings and others would say successful, but would be 0kb files.I am hoping that someone could help me out with this. I missed a show I really wanted to see tonight while my wife was able to record dancing with the stars (GRRRrrrrrrr.)I have 2 QAM digital cards and another analog tuner card. I am not sure if this is a hardware failure or something else. I have attached all of my logs.If it makes a difference, the show that failed that I wanted to watch was Terra Nova on channel 357 at 7:00.

Version is 1.4.7

I would be appreciative of any suggestions. Meanwhile, I will be googling like crazy trying to find a downloadable copy of the show I missed.

Thank you.

Do any new recordings on that channel work? If not, its possible they've changed the PIDs for this channel. GBPVR couldnt handle this type of thing automatically, and would result in a zero byte file.

It does not look like any of my channels work on either one of my QAM cards. The first one I tried to go into channel mappings and all I could see was a black box. The second oen started scanning. I tried to cancel it and I got a bsod. I guess I will have to remap all of them.

I don't suppose the new version makes it any easier does it (auto mapping?). That is the main reason I have not upgraded is because I dreaded having to remap all of my digital channels.

Thanks for the help Sub.

Edit: I take it back. I jumped to quick. I have a Hauppauge card and an ATI card. The Hauppauge card is still working. The ATI card is not. It seems to have lost all of its channel mappings. It is also the one I am getting the bsod on. I am going to disable it and try again.

Edit 2: Ok, it is still not working after removing the ATI card from the confg. I am able to open the Hauppauge and go into map channels. There I am able to see video and it appears to be mapped correctly. When I go to live tv, I just get a black screen.

It works differently. Its debateable whether it's better or worse with QAM than GBPVR. Basically you scan, then all your channels are usable. You can then later assign an EPG to each channel (either in the bulk map screen), or when you're watching live tv by right-clicking and selecting 'set epg source' then selecting the appropriate channel. Its no longer done up front in a 'map digital channels to epg channels'-like screen.

It will try auto-mapping, but it can only do it if there is identifiable information in the stream, ie channel name, and unfortunately the companies aren't so kind as to supply this.

Hmm. Lets say I still have the installer file for 1.4.7. I make my db backup from inside the config program, then go ahead with the upgrade. A week from now I decide it isn't working out for me and I want to go back, would it be possible to do easily? I am not saying I would, I just want the reassurance.

Thank you.

You can have both GBPVR and NextPVR installed on the same machine. They dont share any components, so installing NextPVR shouldn't interfere with your existing setup. Obviously you need to be careful not scheduled recordings for the same time though, since only one application use a tuner at a time.

Very cool. Thank you. I just installed it and was able to import all of my recordings. Obviously I will have some config work to do, but I was able to get my Hauppauge QAM card working. When I try to use the ATI card, the entire program crashes on me. Looks like the tuner is busted on it maybe. I am still using it for my video card so no big deal.

Thank you. I will play around with this for a while.
