Some of my recordings are failing and when I look at the recording, it says "Device Failed to Start". It seems somewhat random. Last night, it recorded a show from 7:30 to 8:00 just fine, but failed to record one at 8:30 and another at 9:00. I tried restarting the recording service and even rebooting with no luck. I then tried to watch live TV and got an error about locating the capture device. This has happened before, but is not consistent. I am running the most recent version of NPVR on Windows XP. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jeff

You failed to mention which device/tuner you have. Have you tried updating the device's drivers?

Attaching logs from the period when that occured will also help troubleshooting your problem.

I have a Hauppauge PVR-150. I haven't thought of updating the device drivers. I have used it with GBPVR for a few years with no issues. I will get the logs and attach them.

There is no obvious reason shown in those logs. Are you positive the device wasnt in use any other software at the same time? This would cause it to fail to start.

I am positive. NPVR is the only software running at the time. It is almost as though it doesn't let go of the device occasionally so the next recording fails. After some long period of time (at least several hours) the device becomes available again. The fact that GBPVR is still installed, but not running in any way, wouldn't cause this would it?
