I think this problem came from trying too many codex packs when trying to address some of my older recordings that have strange audio issues (I.e., bouncing back and forth between AC3 and AAC).

Make sure you have latest SAF6 (unlocked) + latest NPVR patches installed.
There should not be any problem to play even LATM AAC any more by using LAV audio decoder (SAF will install it for you).
Good way how to reencode any audio to AC3 is to use Reclock (+reclock or not NPVR plugin).

I do have the latest SAF6 installed, but I am not positive about being up to date on nPVR patches. It sounds like the ReClock plugin is exactly where I've been wanting to go. I'll check it out after I'm done watching this recording. Thanks for the tip.

BTW is there any way to get the file name to show up in the Recordings list?

OK, I have installed ReClock and the plugin. I have configured ReClock per the wiki description of the plugin, but I am still getting AAC output. I don't see anywhere to configure the plugin in npvr. Is there something else I need to so inside of npvr?

If you want ReClock support you should use the ReClock support thread. The original problem in your sample was that NPVR isn't switching from AC3 to AAC properly when the PAT changed. If I cut out the blocks before the PAT changes NPVR has no trouble decoding it. Sub still hasn't patched this so you still have this problem.

Rather than tackling this with decoders have you looked at Colossus drivers or even your STB. Can you force the STB to output Dolby and then you could use the Dolby passthrough capturing. Alternatively maybe the Colossus graph needs to be changed to start saving as AAC?

I didn't see a reclock thread so I guess my searching wasn't too good and that was my bad. I have set the STBs to use AC3, but they don't have the option to force it. I have tried several versions of the Colossus drivers and they all have the same problem. This is probably because of the STBs. I would really like to avoid AAC if at all possible. I may try talking to Hauppauge about the drivers. They were very helpful on getting four tuners working together. I know that I am getting annoying, but I am so used to SageTV that I am struggling with the changes. I just know I am very close to having this working the way I need it to for my wife and kids.

You need to rename your file from .TS to for example .M2TS
This will make it working with reclock in NPVR.

That won't work from Recordings menu and the Timing.Info won't be used either. Overall not a good fix.
