Hi all,

It's been a long time since I have been on here - just no reason to mess with something that did everything I needed it to do.

That's now changed. I still have my PVR-150 and HVR-1600 cards - so 2 analog and one digital connection, cable direct from the wall.

What I want to do is add the cable company's STB to the svideo input on the PVR-150 and record from the STB to that - and have GBPVR change the channel on the STB to the channel I want to record thru the svideo input.

I've looked at the wiki and I am completely lost. I know that I will need to hook up the cables and such, and use the IR Blaster - but I have no idea what to do from there. Is there anyone out there that can guide me through making this happen? I know I will need a channel changer of some sort, but I really have no clue how to even start. Any threads you can point me to, or write ups on how to do it?

Thanks in advance!

Is the first step I need to do - add a new capture source using my pvr-150, select recording source to "Analog Recording Plugin" and under it's settings selecvt my PVR-150 and set the source to "Svideo External Tuner" ?

Then from there can I just set up the HAUPBLAST.exe to send the channel change signal to the STB? I just want to do this whatever way is the best and most reliable. The thing is, if I screw this up and break the existing setup, the wife will kill me!!!

Thanks,

RAM

I do this in gentle steps much like your thoughts.

(1) cable it up.
(2) create new source and set it to svideo, composite or whatever (I find I have to mess around to guess the right one).
(3) create a new channel for this source - something like "test".
(4) try this channel as a live TV source.
repeat steps 2 and 4 until you can view whatever the STB is sending out.
(5) from outside of gbpvr, get haupblast working in a dos box for tour STB (hoping it is supported).
(6) when that works, edit the config so that hauplast is used for channel changing.
(7) create a couple of testing channels and instead of the frequency or RF channel in config, use the blaster number.
(8) try it.

It ought to be possible to just delete the new tuner and go back to where you were if it all goes wrong... BUT

I would backup the gbpvr database - in fact I would backup the whole devnz\gbpvr directory so that your liefe should be ok.

p.s. the above from memory of some time ago.
