I went ahead and added that patch to the support sticky, but it's in a separate list at the end since this file goes in the data directory while the normal NPVR patches go in to the program directory. UJB when you post a NEWA update that's at all critical, if you could PM me or post a note in the support sticky that would be most helpful; NEWA patches are pretty rare, so I don't spend much time looking for them.

Memo to PulseField: you'll note that the patch to fix one of your problems already existed at the time of your original post (the thread that's been closed). Your post was so rambling, full of gibberish and absurd criticisms that no one could tell what your problem was (and not all of us use NEWA, so not everyone immediately recognizes a NEWA issue without logs). Had you simply and concisely explained your problems, posted your logs (which you STILL have never done), and ASKED (ie, request something from others who are not obligated to give you anything) for some help, you would have had a solution much more quickly without alienating 90% or more of the people on this forum. Whether you get any further help is going to depend on how you ask.

This NEWA patch is required to fix some broken searching too http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post431264 It is very noticeable in SearchLite, but the searches are broken in the web engine too, some hits aren't returned.

I have NET 2.0 SP1, 3.0 SP1, and 3.5 installed.
I went and did the remove/put back thing but this time that didnt work.
So, I turned off Ajax in NEWA for the fun of it?
That made the manage recordings work once again.
I set about reprogramming several shows all as manual record this time instead of using the EPG. That did record one show correctly.
The next day, for the same show previously set as recurring, no record and the NEWA error has come back again.
Wouldnt this be a problem with the recording service rather than NEWA?
I set up the manual recordings (recurring) using the normal NPVR interface. I connected via NEWA just to verify the server was still working and to double check that the manual recordings were set up that way.
I ran scandisk and a ram check on the system, no errors. Its very strange how the service may or may not work for awhile as expected, then start getting wonky for no reason. I have NPVR set to update the EPG at 6Pm. I turn the computer off until its a few hours before showtime. The last time I was 10 minutes late to turn it on for the EPG, but that shouldnt matter on manual recording. Manual record should just forcibly set the channel, record for the time period set, and ignore the EPG anyway. If for no other reason than its a lot easier to delete an unwanted recording than to make one that came, failed and went, reappear from nowhere.

@PulseField: do you not even read the responses in the thread? I will waste no further time with you.

Great...thanks....you are correct.....public patches for NEWA are fairly rare.....I prefer beta testing them with some volunteers in the background and then release with a full NEWA release.

Ah,
The NEWA patch took care of that error in manage recordings.
I have looked at the logs, havent had time to transfer the one that has the last failure of recording. I did notice though, that NPVR did schedule and trigger the recording at the correct time. The log indicates that the recording service was not running. I do of course have it set as a service (default) and it has always started automagically on computer start up. So, why did it stop? I didnt stop it. CPU time is around 4% while that pc is sitting there waiting for the right time to start recording and it isnt eating Ram. A hacker didnt do it, lol. Firewalled to allow just the LAN to connect, the outside world of the internet, denied, in or out via the firewall.
At least though I do thank ya for that patch to NEWA. Now I can hit manage recordings and the http server never ever comes up with that persistant error.
Damn!
Just now 2 minutes ago it was scheduled to record another show.
Everything looked perfect. I removed any manual recordings and cleared the EPG and reloaded it successfully hours ago. I then rescheduled tonights recording via the EPG which (seemed to) work.
Now im looking at the pc and its doing absolutely.. nothing but consuming electricity.
Guess I will check out and send the log later on tonight, busy with a billion other things atm. Sad

I moved your new post back to NPVR support. I realize it's a little confusing, but this forum is for issues with NEWA which is written and supported by UncleJohnsBand. The programmer of the rest of NPVR, Sub, mostly won't see posts here. Your new post is definitely a core NPVR issue, not a NEWA issue.

Your post is now a new thread here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...s-attached
