Hi,

i am jsut setting up my htpc and playing around with gb-pvr. It looks good so far but I have a couple of questions:

1 - I installed Video Archive + DVD2MPEG and it seems to work but it just named my mpg file as DVD_VIDEO.mpg. Is there any way that it will save the actual movie name? Also, how can I get it to look up the DVD info to display a picture and/or information about the movie? Also, I get a crash when trying to run DVD Info Editor. I did run GetDVDInfo but didn't find anything. Do I need to create some kind of text file for it to find the proper info?

2 - DVD player i installed was PowerDVD and it seems fine but there seems to be no way to control the powerdvd options such as FF, Pause, RW etc. In fact, I couldnt get out of DVD once it started playing so I had to use ctrl-alt-delete. Is there a way to use powerdvd functions and exit if required...or is there software that works better that i should use?

As I said, I am new and I will most likely have other questions, but I appreciate your time.

Thanks
Jeff

The DVD name comes from the volume lable on the DVD. Some DVDs just put "DVD_Video" there. Others put no name at all. For the one that use a good name string for the volume name of the disk you will get a good name for the movie. Note that if you name the MPEG file (while GBPVR is running in the background) the video archive plug-in will notice the name change and try to download a poster image and movie description for the newly renamed file.

Thanks Jeff,

is there some way that I can name the file so I can be sure of getting the exact IMDB info? such as renaming the file as the imdb#?

for example, the Godfather has an imdb # of tt0068646

If I rename the file as that, and/or put that number in a text file, could your program use it to search IMDB and pull up the proper info?

The name is based on a text search of the name. I usually just type in the movie name and that tends to work. If not, you could go to IMDB and find the movie. Whateve name they list on the title bar of the web page should work.

Thanks Jeff,

I renamed the file to the tt0068646 and it actually found it as the Godfather!

However, when i looked at the dvdupdate text file I am getting an error:

Also, I get a crash whenever i try to run DVDinfoEditor
