Hi, is it possible to define multiple recording drives/paths? What I want is that if the primary recording disk gets full, recordings are instead made to another drive/path. The NPVR settings only allows to setup one path for recordings.

Thanks,

it can be done with scripting, just need to change recording dir in config.xml and restart rec. service, when drive nearly full...
i believe there was a .vbs around somewhere here that can do this..[search 'overflow' or '.vbs']
or use ntfs junctions as i do for certain series so they get recorded on another drive..but has to be setup for each series once manually..

pBS, I have been searching the forums and I actually think the archive wish (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ing-screen) would serve my purpose. I hope this is something Sub is considering.

I also find references to your tool SuperSimpleArchiver (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...leArchiver). Is this something I could use to take the load of my recordings drive until a more permanent solution is built into NPVR?

Thanks,

well, actually that was a add-on for pvrx2 video library transcode functions, but npvr doesn't have 'transcode' anymore so can't be used in npvr.. [and database is different]

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=38189 can be used to offload a directory at a time, but must be setup manually first time for each..[and must use ntfs filesystem on rec drive(recommended anyways)] basically it's just a shortcut to a dir that points to another drive's dir..

Wish to have the option to browse and select another drive or folder when setting a recording.
Shifting many HD video around after recording can be slow and troublesome.

Current'y using NPVR and GBPVR to record shows into 2 hdd.
Really hope it can be done with just NPVR alone next time.

Put the wish into the "whishlist" thread.

i made a util to do what OP wanted..overflow for rec drives...Big Grin
wanna test it?
run it from postupdateepg.bat and it will check if recording, if not, then change rec. dir in config.xml and restart rec service to make it stick..

Please be carefull with it as it's still beta, i suggest setting up a test after making backups of db3 and config.xml and recording-dump.xml
i tried to put in all sorts of error checking but i may have missed something...

i'll be putting a check in for livetv watching, but it shouldn't interfere much as it will very rarely change the rec dir...Wink

i'll put it on a page and release t when i get some users feedback...
[i now have 5 terabytes of storage so won't be running out for a while...lol]

a few notes on using overflow util:
you should use it once a day in postupdateepg.bat, but remember to give it a minimum GB of your largest full day's worth of recordings..
when using it after every recording in postprocessing.bat, give it a min GB of your max usual # of gb at same time.. meaning:
max # of tuners in use at one time X typical filesize for a recording..
i believe i'll have to add a random delay so many don't get started at once when using it in postproc..

I must stress to have a backup of config.xml when testing..that's the only thing that it modifies...
