I've been using NetRadio on the MVP successfully for quite some time, but I've decided to add to my channel list. I've gone to some radio station web sites (as in over-the-air stations that broadcast on the web also), downloaded their .pls files, and put them into the Net Radio subdirectory of the c:/Program Files/devnz/GBPVR folder. Some of them work fine; with others, on the information screen in GBPVR on MVP, it will say "buffering..." for a long while, and then play about 15 seconds of audio (I'm assuming that's as much as is in the buffer). Then nothing else happens. Anyone have any ideas? I'd like to get these streams working. Thanks.

P.S.- Hopefully I haven't overlooked something stupid. I do that on a fairly regular basis.

Are these shoutcast .pls files? These are the only type which will work with GB-PVR.

Well, that could be the problem. What is the difference? Should it say on the radio station's page that they're Shoutcast? I don't remember them saying that... Thanks again.

GB-PVR is written to parse the audio and metadata out of shoutcast streams, but doesnt understand any other type of netradio stream. Go to shoutcast.com to look for pls, and chekc if your radio station is there.

I had something real strange happen last night... I deleted the stations from the list that I wasn't interested in and added a bunch from shoutcast... only to find later that the ones I had deleted were still in the list! I went back to my PC to check and yep... there they were, back in the folder!

Can you not delete the default stations?

This is part of the windows installer trying to protect the files that were installed with the original installation. I cant find any way to disable this behaviour.

To delete a station edit the .pls file. First change the extension to .txt, open the text file then delete everything and save. Now the station will NOT show up in the net radio list. hope this helps, if not drop me a line.

ps - could someone reword this so it makes more sense and add this to the wiki perhaps?

Thanks macroceph, that worked out great!

Just to clarify what he said, open up the .pls file in Notepad, delete everything and then save the file, making sure you save it with the .pls extension (change file type to All Files or it will save it .pls.txt).
