Actually for some reason my Castle renaming isn't working the way I thought, it gets the correct xml file but renames it incorrectly. I will have a patch later after I hear from the people checking out the logic for database-based renaming.

You need to turn the Castle folder into "Castle (2009)" manually in XBMC

In the Video Library right click Castle - Select "TV show information" It queries tvdb.com so choose Castle 2009 and then IGL should work with no change. I still will update IGL to add the year but it's not that big a deal and they work either way.

I'm assuming this was in response to my post about pre-populating the name?

The EPG update runs each night, so you'd really only have to pre-populate the names for the next 24 hours; I'm thinking by then the key info for new shows would be available, and it wouldn't be an issue at all for re-runs and most movies. Of course it might fail every now and again, but then naming afterwards probably fails on occasion as well.

I realize this all seems like a fantastic and simple idea to me, when I don't have to do anything to make it happen.

In the meantime, I guess I'll give post-recording renaming another try.
