Last week when I posted about an intermittent problem I was having with my HVR-1250 card on Clear-QAM recordings, it was suggested that there was a problem with my signal, in particular where the logs were showing a "locked=0" and "quality=30". Since I am in the process of changing providers and had two different sources available to me at the computer location, I switched from one to the other to try things out. Since then, I have had no problems with the recordings not happening (but it didn't always happen before, so I can't say things are fixed), but in looking over the logs, I have never seen anything other than the same "locked=0" and "quality=30" from before, which I thought was a little odd. Also, the Hauppauge Digital Signal Quality monitor program never shows anything put a solid signal (SNR=40).
Just to get a different data point, I tried out a HVR-950Q USB tuner on my laptop, hooked up to the same original source as before. On this tuner, the logs reported "locked=1 strength=-15 quality=100", every one of the values different from with the HVR-1250. I had read here on some thread that different cards returned different values for these items, so I was wondering if anyone else here uses the HVR-1250, and if so, if they might post their values so I can get some idea of what I might expect.
