I did find VidImport, but it doesn't seem to work on .WTV files, hence why I started crafting my own alternative. If anyone one has used VidImport successfully with WTVs I'd be grateful for any tips. This is really a one time event so shouldn't really have to take too long.

Ta Johnsonx42. These files are generated directly from NextPVR. I have this problem with channels that are low on reception and my plan was to build something that could strip all the offending channels and provide a file that could be imported that did not include these. That way I could run that process every time I have to retune and thus save having to go through the channels seperately looking for all the offending ones.....

I'll have a poke through the files, could be I'll have to pre-process in a file mode and see what happens.

Yeah see it now, some of the channels have names with an & in. When NextPVR pushes them to the export it is obviously doing so as per the channel description. I suspect just changing these to "and" will avoid the issue so will post process this avoiding the &apos etc. which are genuine ML.

All I did was fix your broken times, and changed your filename to one that exists on my machine and it imported fine.

Tre4Bax Wrote:Okay, Hopefully that is attached. Both of the files show in IE as a complete block of text filling the page rather than as xml that you can open and close bits of. I think that is because it is not reading it, but I also think it is fussy and may not read it without the preceeding XML version line. Whatever it is I can't get the Document to load in C#.
The attached should fix the xml file created with the 'export channels' button. It's a new feature, and I didn't notice the problem with channels with special characters, since our NZ channels all clean names.

Quote:I'm not seeing anything that might indicate channel encryption in the xml, do you happen to know if it can be seen. I noticed it was detected when I scanned the channels.
It doesn't store information about whether a channel is encrypted or not. It only reports this info at scan time to help the user to decide if they want to keep the channel or not.

Now I am really confused. I managed to get the single file to import :-) but it only had its name and nothing else so I exported the recordings and looked at it. The Event element had nothing in it, blank times and OIDs set to zero, but the record had imported.

I then generated a new version with a fake OID but the ChannelOID from the recordings backup file I had made. This worked perfectly, all the description etc transfered in. So thinks I if I export the channels it will have the OID for the channel in there and I can just graft it in. Good plan but the number that is held as Channel OID in the recordings XML does not exist in the Channel XML. In the recordings XML it is consistent so all Pick TV instances use the same number.

So now I am totally stumped. Anyone got any ideas?

npvr.db3 is a SQLite database. There are lots of programs that will let you see the content so you can be sure about oids and all that. I use SQLite Manager (it's a Firefox plugin).

I checked. It's because you deleted the /Event/OID node. Leave it set to '0'. Don't delete this node.

Excellent, I'll give this one a try now. I'd much rather it made its own number up :-)

Then I'll play with the SQLite thing tomorrow
