Hi Nextpvr community,

I'm using xbmc on apple tv2 for a while, however today I've tried to enable live tv. Installed nextpvr on my windows xp computer, connected xbmc. Now the problem is I don't have any devices showing in my nextpvr settings. I guess I may need additional hardware. Currently I have video card ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 series. What else do I need to enable live tv channels. Thanks and greatly appreciated. George

A TV tuner perhaps? Do you subscribe to cable or satellite, or do you plan to use an antenna?

Hi thanks. No cable or satellite. I guess for tv channels to work I would need tv tuner card with antenna. Is that the only other option? Thanks. George

Pretty much so, obviously you don't need NextPVR as backend for internet. I'm using an old Hauppauge card and I'm a firm believer in that brand. They make a variety of ATSC/QAM cards and USB 2.0 devices. If you want the ability to record two channels at once, then a dual tuner is needed. Don't buy two of a kind - drivers might only support one. You don't need analog (NTSC) capability.

Some do if they want to record SD output from a cable/satellite STB, using the svideo or composite ports. Here channels 2-60 can still be recorded NTSC from cable too but that no doubt will die over the years ahead.

You can get over the air digital tv in most of inhabited North America. Try your zip code here https://www.silicondust.com/support/channels/
