It's possible that the recording service can't write to that location, since it runs as a different user account. Try a different location, like create c:\temp and try setting it to use that.

You haven't complained about audio, but it appears unlikely that you are hearing any. The Microsoft audio decoder won't deliver AC3 to third-party applications like NPVR. I would suggest that you install AC3Filter (http://www.ac3filter.net/) then select it for AC3 Audio under Settings/Decoders. Other decoder settings look fine to me. Indoor antennas work best near a window. If reception is hopeless on some channels, you can always delete them from Settings/Channels.

I'm sorry but I was not trying to record anything just trying to test the live tv function. So if the logs revealed something different the question would be why?

Well the reason I have not complained about audio, or anything else for that matter, is that I can't seem to get past my original problem of simply trying to view live tv.

In order to support features like Pause Live TV, NPVR needs to create temporary files in your Live TV Buffer folder.

Did you try creating a C:\temp folder and making this your Live TV Buffer in Settings/Misc?

If you are having problems with Live TV which is the most complex process as it relies on both the recording and play back both working try breaking it down to the two separate bits. Make a short recording and check the file is not zero bytes and play it back with a media player such as VLC or MPC-HC. If the file dosnt play then there is a recording problem and if it does play its a playback problem probably decoders.

Before I go any further with this I need to ask a question because if the answer is negative then I don't want to waste your time in helping me get through this. I was beginning to use Windows Media Center when I discovered that it was unable to put recorded media on a network drive. I do not wish to have to have my laptop running just to watch a movie. So, if NPVR has the same restriction then I would not want to use it either. Thanks.

I save most of recordings (except the live tv buffer) to a network drive for offline viewing using XBMC with my server powered off. Note that the NextPVR client is a real pain with the server turned off and the XBMC PVR client needs the server.
