I am having a problem with NextPVR and the recoding directory. I searched this forum and the internet, and found a similar post, but didn't see an answer. I have a Hauppauge HD PVR hooked up to a Win 7 desktop. I am trying to use my Synology DS413 for the recording directory. I made sure that the user account on the Win 7 system has read and write access to the recording directory on the Synology. When I setup a recording, everything appears to work fine, but no recordings make it to the Synology. When I check the logs, I see an error of

Invalid file passed to StartPostProcessing(): 'Z:\Live_Recordings\News All Weekend\News All Weekend_20130707_19001930.ts'

I can record to the local drive just fine.

The z: drive is mapped, and I am able to write to it from Windows. Does anybody have any ideas on how to get this to work?

Thanks.

The recording service runs as a different user account, so wont see your drive mappings. You should use a UNC path (\\server\share\...), or change the recording service to run as your user account.

Very fast reply! Thank you very much!

I thought I did do that. I made sure the account I log into Windows 7 with and make the recordings under is the same account with rw access on the Synology. Did I misunderstand that part?

I don't record to a network drive, so I'm not the best person to offer advice on this. I'm just repeating what others have said in the past. If the service isn't seeing the drive mappings, then maybe try switching to a UNC path.

Switching to a UNC path did the trick. Finally! Smile

For anybody else having a similar problem in Windows, when you set up your remote directories in NextPVR, map them through the 'Network" folder instead of the "Computer" folder.

Thanks for your help!
