Well here are the questions in order, folks. I did a but load of searching here; and some I had no relevant hits (#1 for example). Others referenced GBPVR which I take it has been morphed into what NPVR is today, and was unsure if/how that info applied. More background later in post.

1. USB-UIRT - this is supported via the IRSS plugin. Ok. Sage allowed me to have more than one of these units by defining device_number in Dave's .ir file. Any such support here, since the IRT can support 3 zones, and I have 4 hd STBs (uverse)?

2. Colossus/HDpvr - I have 4 of these devices - namely 3x colossus, 1xhdpvr. Current setup is component + RCA with stb fixed at 1080i. I am able to get video preview on the server side from only 1. The others give me a noAudioVideo but preview/work fine in sage or the Win tv app. Ideas?

3. Got the schedule direct plugin going on server side, set up account with 2 lineups: my local uverse lineup, and my local ota lineup (I have 3xhdhr dual units on the network so as not to waste uverse "tuners" for local recordings.). Channels are populated but no data in guide.

4. Stuck on where to go from here but the above would get me on my way. I think I would need to assign channels to the colossi/hdpvr inputs or HD Hr net tuners as appropriate.

Media portal looked promising but it's a total mess on he tvserver side. Then I found xbmc will use NPVR as a tv back end, and figured I could do something with that. Right now I am split wih sage doing recordings but running out of java heap with the colossus units, hdpvr and 6xota tuners. MCE7 does my movies + pdvd and Netflix plugin including 3d blu. I would like to unify, and like the cross platform prospect of xbmc as a client since we have macs and pcs floating around.

The "server" is virtualized on esxi 5 with the colossi x 3, and an entire usb3 controller passed thru, along with an M1510, and the onboard intel Sata (z68 i5 2400) controller for time shift/DVr storage. The M1510 leads to an external large JBOD array with built in expander.

Clients are mostly win7 i3 itx boxes with hd3000 graphics allowing bit streaming etc. small ssds to boot them.

If you can control them via a command line it will work in NextPVR if you set the parameters correctly.

It would be your choice of h264 decoder and aac audio decoder.

After making lineup change you need to restart the recording service. Do a manual update and update your logs.

Focus on getting one-tuner going on the server-side, then add tuners, the add PC clients, then add XBMC clients. Sending logs for problems is best.

OK, apparently I need something from the USB-UIRT gent that allows me to number one of them "2", done deal. Now, I've searched on USB-UIRT via command line, and come up with various people's batch files, IRSS, Girder, so on so forth. For pure STB blasting (since the face of the main unit is literally under layers of duct tape nose to nose with the STB, so ugly in fact, I have them turned backwards (RCA etc connections facing front) in the rack, so I won't be receiving... Smile , so I would only ever need to fire the following sequence:

(ok) (#) (#) (#) (#)

(they use 4 digit CH #'s and if you zero-pad them, tuning is pretty instant. If not, luck can vary. The Preceding "(ok)" wakes it from its non-disableable screensaver if it is in bandwidth conserving mode, which I kind of like, because my IPTV eats into my internet connection if I have 4 HD streams cookin'.). Given that will be the most I will ever want to do IR-wise, which of these many approaches would you guys suggest? Probably the batch file + IRBlast.exe or whatever the utility is that fires the command off? I would probably have to learn in the digits and (OK), since I have those in sage (Motorola VIP) but I'm sure it's a different format. I will read up on that and come back here if I can't glean everything from searching.

I take it on H264 etc decoders, I would be best off with those exposed by ArcSoft, or LAV, or the MS-TV-DVD (I know that does mpeg -- not 264 though?) Been a long time since I've looked, I wonder if Intel put out any codecs given their focus in integrated graphics of late.

OK will restart recording service. What do you mean by do a manual update/update logs? Something I'll find in the SchedDirect plugin? Will look!

Thanks guys! I'll keep you posted!

ArcSoft video decoder or Microsoft DTV-DVD video decoder would be the best choices. As far as I know, you cant use the LAV for H.264 video with NextPVR, since this decoder is incompatible with the Microsoft MPEG-2 demultiplexer (due to NALU handling).

Go to the Settings->Channels tab, and hit the 'update epg' button, wait for it to complete, then zip and attach your npvr.log file. (c:\users\public\npvr\logs)
