Access video stream thru network..possible?

Can anyone suggest a way that this could work(with additional software/hardware etc.):

1. I attach the video + audio out of a satellite set top box (SKY) to the inputs on a card like WinTV, also using a USBUIRT to change channels via the computer..

2. Is there a way to access the video stream via other computer(s) on the network and if possible access the USBUIRT over the network to change channels? I am doing this as alternative to using a digisender which can interfere with wireless network.

Thx for the tip....I'm a bit of a newbie at this, would streaming be what I need?? Is there some way I can just control GBPVR across the network, or have GBPVR control the WinTV across the network?
